  • When someone walks at the same pace as me: who gave your creepy ass permission to walk with me get the fuck away before I call the cops

i feel like ‘white feminism’ can basically be summed up by the way people talk about the wage gap - “women earn 77 cents to a man’s dollar!” - which is accurate only for white women. black women, black men, and hispanic men and women all earn less than white women for every dollar a white man earns. but the message i constantly see is “women earn 77 cents”, because white women are the default, of course. white women are the norm so it’s a problem that we don’t earn a dollar to every man’s dollar, but women of colour are just, like, subgroups, branches off of the main group of white women. and we can’t talk about the fact that men of colour earn less than white women because then we’d have to talk about race and intersectionality and acknowledge our privilege in a massive way and that’s uncomfortable, so.
